With a GDP of $794 Billion in 2008 and an average GDP growth of 7% since 2002 Turkey is the 17th biggest economy of the world and had a positive growth even in the economical crysis in 2009.
Turkey's population is about 75 million and more than 33% of the population (Based 2008's data) have internet access and it grows exponentially.
Internet users in Turkey were also found to be the most engaged users in Europe, spending an average of 32 hours and viewing an average 3044 pages of content per month.
According to the results of ICT Usage Survey on Households and Individuals carried out in April 2009 by Turkish Statistic Institute, 30,0% of households have access to the Internet at home (A 11% increase compared to 2007).
ADSL is the most widely used Internet connection type with 85,6% in Turkey.
While proportions of the male that use computer and Internet were 50,5 % and 48,6%, these proportions were 30,0 % and 28,0 % in female , respectively.
While proportions of the enterprises that use computer and have Internet access were 90,7% and 88,8% in January 2009, these proportions were increased as directly proportional with size of enterprise. Proportion of enterprises having web page was 58,7% in January 2009.
After June 2009, 3G Mobile Networks approved from Ministry of Transport and Communications, Mobile Networks started to raise their popularity in Turkey. Price policies of the cellular network companies almost same with the broadband companies. Considering that there are more than 50 million mobile phone subscribers this is also promising for future internet usage of the country.
